Forestry mulchers only grind the tree down leaving the stumps. These stumps are exremely difficult to remove later without the leverage of the tree trunk and can be a breeding ground for insects. If you are clearing for a home site a good contractor will want the stump removed before completing the foundation.

So while the one step mulchers are a time saver for the land clearing folks they can cause more damage to rock out croppings and surrounding tree branches (due to the size of the equipment) as well as cost you more money in the end.
